MEDIA AMBITION TOKYO

toki- series_♯01

Akinori Goto

This composition depicts the materialization of time by connecting it with movement. Although at first glance it may just look like a white mesh mass, selections of time can be reproduced by projecting slits of light. This is an attempt to clearly demonstrate time, an invisible phenomenon, and its relationship with movement through a physical depiction, and in doing so discover the true beauty and nature of time itself. In toki-BALLET #02, I use my own camera to shoot the trajectory of a dancer, momentarily dissect the motion from that point, and then reconnect it. By projecting a slit of light on the composition, the dancer’s motions can be reproduced in that space from my point of view. This is an attempt to represent time by connecting the location of the viewer to the dance itself.
